About
Just so you know, this page is horribly out of date…
I make things with computers for people; often I make things to go on the web. Sometimes I write code (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Java…) and sometimes I use other software (Photoshop, Flash, QuickTime…) to get the job done. I learn something new in the course of every project I do, so my bag of tricks is forever expanding.
Anonymous Jack is the website of Simon Grout; a student of the Digital Art and Technology Degree at the University of Plymouth. In Devon. For now, I'm on the jammy filling year of my sandwich degree, pretending to have a real job. I'm working at the Peninsula Medical School, doing varying proportions of web development, site administration and tech support. Occasionally I make the tea / coffee / peppermint infusions.
You can contact me at simon@anonymousjack.co.uk by email or jabber.
About me
A brief history: When I was younger I wanted to be a spaceman. Then an astronaut. Aiming a little lower, it was fighter pilot — right up until the point where I realised that this would involve joining the military. For years later, my ambition was to be a pharmacist. It seemed like a good idea at the time; you get to wear a white coat but you don't have to put your fingers anyway icky. Turned out it wasn't my thing. Now, I'm trying to make a career out of playing on computers all day. Happy ending!
As well as Anonymous Jack, I also have a mostly pointless (and mostly harmless) weblog, where I amuse myself with words and pictures. It is a weblog about dinosaurs, cranes, robots and whatever else is cluttering up my mind on any given day.
Away from the computer, I enjoy twee indie music, comic books and cups of tea. I own a drum machine, a guitar, a tin whistle, a tambourine, a harmonica, a kazoo and a blue ukelele — I can't play any of them very well. I can sort of play the keyboard.
